I have an 06 Toyota Matrix XR 1.8 liter with a 1ZZ-FE engine. I've been looking all over for a K&N Typhoon intake for my car, but today I was finally contacted and informed that they do not make anything for my year and engine type. So now I'm just looking for anything that will fit my car and where the manufacturer has a good reputation.

Thanks for your help/ideas

Ok, first off take a look at this K&N Cold Air Intakes page. If you'll notice they make the typhoon for the XRS and the 2004 XR. Now the three cars look like the air intake manifold is in the exact same place with the exact same clearance all around. I wouldn't know though since I don't have access to all three cars at once.

Now you might disregard the next two suggestions but try looking on e-Bay or at Autozone. With e-Bay the intakes are clearly marked. With Autozone you just need the diameter or a silicone transition and maybe some extension tubing and bracket.

Now my last suggestion is a company called Fujita. Apparently it's a very well known company but not inexpensive at all.

Well happy hunting, hope you find what you're looking for.

Source where I found the name Fujita.
