Have just bought my Learner driver son a 92 Paseo it is a great little car but is very temperamental for starting and currently will not crank over.
It is not a battery problem as I have installed a new battery . If I clutch start it and take it for a short drive it will stop and start many times over without fault but when left overnight it will not start agin but can be clutch started in less than a metre as engine runs beautifully
I am suspecting starter motor fault or stater solenoid?
has anyone had this problem?

ron sounds like ur in the right areA b4 u drop any bucks on a starter or its solenoid check the wiring at the starter side. might could be the supply voltage ring connector at the started's corroded that when cold wont turn starter...have ur son hold the key in the start posit with car in park (at) or nuetral (mt) WITH PARKING BRAKES APPLIED AND BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED then wiggle fat wire from battery to starter see if that gets it to crank. be aware if it is the problem there will be a bit of fireworks at the point of failure so be safe..wear ur safety goggles.
