Greetings! Thought I'd check the transmission fluid level today. Problem is - I can't find a dip stick. Is there one or what?

Also, engine is running about 3/4 above cold - what could the problem be. I did buy a new thermostat but haven't had the time to install it. Also, I have yet to see the fan actually turn on and it is electric - could that be the problem?

Also, fuel mileage is the pits - she's getting only 23-25 mpg in the city and only 29 on the highway if and only if I drive it her at 90 kmph. Any suggestions as to how to improve this would be appreciated. I do suspect that the carburator has issues because I can smell a lot of gas fumes when I start her. She needs a lot of pedal pumping to start.

Thank you kindly for any relevant and useful advice.
