Hello. For a manual 97 corolla, should the gear / transmission oil be changed ? if yes after how many kilometers should i change it !? or can i just top it up from time to time. my rolla has 115000 kms on it and i am wondering if gear oil should be a concern for me as a part of maintainance. Please advice. THanks :)

My recommendation is that you change it. At 115K it's time if it's never been done.
75W80 or 75W90 is preferred for Canadian Winters.
Go to Cambodian Tire eh ? And if you want to do it yourself you they have an oil pump (you basically suck the oil into it, then push it into the tranny, repeat until full....'bout 1/2 hr).

Depending on where you get the oil, many bottles already have the pump, therefore you can drain, pump, and reuse the bottle for the old oil. Recycle and presto...
