No, not what is a transmission. lol
I just recently purchased a 1987 Corolla FX16. The engine is a 4A-GE (at least that is what it says on the side), it's a double overhead cam, 16 valve, 1.6L, fuel injected engine. The car front wheel drive and has an automatic transmission, which I think might be having issues.
When driving, the car produces a constant LOUD humming noise. I thought maybe it was wheel bearings, but the wheel bearings checked out. All the rotors and pads have been replaced, so it's not the brakes. I am afraid it might be the transmission, specially since the transmission does not shift very smooth, and will not shift into overdrive until hot. When I hammer the pedal on the freeway, the transmission slips a little before shifting down.
If someone knows what transmission is in this vehicle, as well as where I might be able to find a rebuilt tranny, that would be great. If a rebuilt EOM transmission is no longer available, can someone offer an suggestions?
If I am way off here thinking it's that transmission, that would be nice to know as well.
Thank You
