Normally how long do transmissions run? Plus how can I make sure to take care of my transmission so that it will run smoothly for a long time?

Trannys should last the life of the car. Just make sure you get it serviced at the required intervals, it's usually stated in your owners manual.

Really? I didn't know that. On the average what is the average life span of a car if it is maintained and tuned up regularly?
