Hello Everyone,

I'm sure most people would like to know just how safe the RAV4 SUV's are but wouldn't want to find out first hand! Well, I am happy to share our story with all of you.

Three Toyota's live at our home. The latest addition is a 2007 RAV4 Limited V6. This SUV just replaced our 2007 RAV4 'Sport' 4 cylinder which was declared a total loss in a near head on collision on January 10th on Clovis Ave in Clovis CA. We had owned the RAV4 Sport for 3 days less than a month.

A young driver became distracted with take out food and careened across the concrete median and into my Wife's RAV 4. The crumple zones performed flawlessly to protect my wife from injuries other than seatbelt bruising. The collision was a combined 105 mph impact, the windshield did not break and her purse was still sitting in the same place on the front passenger seat! To look at the interior after the wreck, you wouldn't know a crash had occurred had the air bag not been hanging out. Two of the four young men in the other car were not as fortunate. We thank God for His protection and we are thankful to Toyota Corp. for their tireless safety engineering and crash testing.

Thanks for letting me share this with all of you and I look forward to reading as many posts as I can keep up with auto.gif

Thank you, dtown40, for your comments.

While we are very grateful for Toyota's commitment to safety, it is still difficult for us to praise Toyota, while knowing that the lives of two of the young men's families have been changed forever. It's just a little tough to come to grips with the outcome of a crash like that. Of course we were not the first to feel these emotions, nor will we be the last. I don't think any make of vehicle can offer you complete protection from everything out there, but Toyota lives up to it's reputation in our book.
