This is a trick I use to to check cross compatability with different models. Go to one of the on line parts suppliers like www.partsamerica.com, www.carparts.com and first put in your car info and then look up the part #. Then go to different years or even different models and enter the same part and see if the same number comes up. Since Toyota used a lot of the same parts on different models in the '70's it's pretty accurate.

Also, you can call auto parts stores and ask about parts for your make and model, such as brakes, and then change the year. Also, with brake upgrades to larger discs, you can go in to the store and ask for the inner and outer bearing part #'s. Then ask them to pull the rotor for your year, make, model, and the rotor from another year. do some measuring to compare the two units. Also, look at the Toyota trucks around the same year. I have noticed that the suspension uses the same parts but in different configurations. Some truck front struts may also have a higher spring load rate in case you are upgrading to a V-6 or want to stiffen the front end a bit. Parts stores also have catalogs which give spec's on parts. It pays to make a friend out of one of the hot rod freaks at your local parts store and just call them with what you want to do and let them do the leg work.
