Recent posts about a Prius weighing in at 1940 lb on a truck scale are interesting. The following conjecture may hold the explanation for the 1000 lb discrepancy: Truck scale is calibrated within one percent tolerance at 100,000 lb. Tolerable error is 1000 lb. QED. Bob Smith

So if "curb weight" is different from the type of measurement you are doing, that means that *ALL* vehicles measure differently. In other words, it doesn't matter what number you actually come up with, Prius is still heavier than average regardless. Heavier than average means the tires will naturally wear out faster than average. JOHN http://john1701a.com

What does "heavier than average" exactly mean? What are you comparing this car to?

Are you refering to another vehicle that uses the same size tire weighs less than this car? Please be more specific in your statement.

Besides the tires do not wear equally on both sides. With the other two Pruis owners I know the tires wore on the drivers side faster than on the passenger side. My tire on the drivers side blew first. The front tires wore faster than on the rear. I would like to know if anybody has noticed the same type of tire wear? John, I believe you work for Toyota!
