My trunk lock and release cable on my 2005 Toyota Corolla no longer works properly. Hence, my trunk has been locked since Friday (5/29/2009). As per the owner's manual and several repair forums on the web, I have tried all suggested remedies to no avail. I can turn the key in the lock to the left and to the right, but have not had success in opening the trunk. Although the tops of the back seats go down, the lever to release them is locked in the trunk. I took out the seat itself, only to discover that I did not have the proper wrenches to remove the floor bolts of the back seat posts. Simply put, do I bring my car to the dealer or my mechanic to help me solve this dilemna? Thanks so much for your assistance.
