hey guys, i bought mine used a couple of months ago and am loving it. Eventhough it's not a turbo model, it performs well for my day to day. It hasn't passed smog. i hear this is common. the dealer says that after a tune up and 'special tweaking' they can get it to pass, but I can't reall afford to shell out $300 for a tune up. Any suggestions?

300 bucks for a tune up? Wow things really are more expensive in California. (maybe it's just a dealer price) I guess it might seem obvious but did you change the spark plugs and air filter? Are you running premium gas? Have you 'blown out the carbon' by taking your MR2 for a good romp? Is it up to normal operating temp when tested? <br>I don't pretend to understand California emmission laws, i'm not sure anyone does, but if all that fails...<br>I heard of disreputable garages 'fixing your test' but not your car for 50 bucks or so.<br>-mainsoda
