I have a 1990 Toyota Pickup 2wd w/ 22R. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of putting a turbo on this engine? Thanks.

Toyota offered a turbocharged version of this engine (although it was the fuel injected version) in the late '80s 4Runners.
You could do a swap to a 3.0L V6 and get just as much power with less hassle though.

The 3.slow is/was a dog of an engine, thus the nickname given to it by many who have them.

I wont deny that, but the 22R/22R-E/22R-E turbo wasnt any better. The difference is that the 4-bangers didnt blow headgaskets as much as the 3.slow did.
