My friend has a 1998 Corolla. Last night she went to the Rodeo and someone had lights under their car. Now she wants to do the same thing. Any suggestions on where to get these, how much they cost and how hard they are to hook up? What are they called?

First thing is to check your local laws. Some states, it's illegal to have it. Especially red and blue. You might be able to get away with it with yellow and amber color lights.

Even if it is legal in your state, it will bring too much attention to your car especially law enforcement officers. She may end up finding out she is getting pulled over more often now.

I found those lights at most of the auto parts store I went to. You may also find it at some places that sale car audio stuff too.

I would never have even thought about it possibly being illegal. I too told her that they would attract lots of attention and she was like GOOD! That's what I want to do.. So, I guess they will be her tickets not mine (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) Thanks for the information.. I will tell her to call the court house to check on the limitations if any...

These are illegal in my state, but I still see cars with them sometimes. Am I correct in believing that you can turn them off from the inside?
Get yourself a radar detector, and hit that switch when the cops are around.

Well, I don't know about the lights being illegal here or not but radar detectors are LOL. In fact, I have a friend who went to jail over using one after receiving a ticket for it the first time. I think I'll leave that kinda stuff up to the people who don't have a family to care for! :D

Cassie,
Definitely make sure that they aren't illegal...some states I know have certain colors banned but not others...Also tell her she will be more of a target for police because traditionally people who race are the ones that have the lights under the car... Depending on how expensive they are, I don't think I would risk getting them and being more of a target...
