My 93 NA develops a vibration (sometimes) when I'm driving down the road at 40 to 55 mph. Usually it doesn't occur unless I've been driving for 10 miles or more. Sometimes it doesn't vibrate at all. Lately, it's been doing it about 3 out of every 5 times I drive the car. When it occurs, I've noticed that (often) the brake pedal seems hypersensitive... as if there is very little pedal travel before the brakes are activated. Then, if I pull over to the shoulder and stop, put the car in reverse and back up, stop, put the car in gear and drive forward again, the vibration goes away. Because of this I suspected a sticky brake caliper. The dealer has checked out the brakes and says they are operating correctly. The dealer also checked (at my request) the wheel bearings, the motor mounts, the struts, all other suspension components and the belts. Dealer assures me everything is okay, and they did not experience the vibration on their test drive. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -DW-

Sounds like a sticking caliper to me also. The next time it happens, pull over and put it in neutral at a stop and slighly roll the car a few inches and see if it grabs without touching the break pedal.

Check the wear on the tires. See if they are cupped (tread feels uneven) on the sides. You probably just need to burn the carbon out...come over and I'll do it for you. Better yet, we should meet at Randy's house and then let me burn the carbon out - he probably needs a few new marks on the pavement.

Actually, your marks are still there -- a remembrance of the heady days of TRIMOC.

I was always playing with my brakes on my 91, but everytime I took the rears off to do something the pins were always trying to stick. If I'd not been playing with mine so much I can easily see where they would be prone to sticking. Dale
