I am having a problem which seems like a vibration noise which gets much worse at around 60mph and by 70mph is almost unbearable. At that speed it is more like a roaring sound. At first I thought it was bad tires, because that's exactly what it sounds like, but the noise goes away when put into neutral, so I think that rules out a lot of things such as wheel bearings. I looked at the engine mounts, all look intact. The axles seem tight. This car only has 110,000 miles on it, and the previous owner babied the car, and the transmission fluid is clear and smells normal, so I am hoping that rules out a tranny problem. It is a 3 speed automatic. What else could be causing this noise??

I had a similar problem with my corolla, but my dad looked and something was loose that when I started going faster it would rattle....did you check to make sure everything is as tight as it's suppose to be? My car only have 30,000 miles when it started to do that...so I don't know if it's the same problem as what I had with mine.

Did you get it fixed and what did it turn out to be?

yea i actually had the same problem with mine but for me, i put it on a dyno and it turned out that the vibration was coming from part of he exhaust right near the cat conv. this pipe was vibrating against a support bar. u mite wanna check that. best way is to put it in neutral and look under from the sides and see if its hitting the support bar. on mine it was a black alluminum bar.
