Hi all,

I had an oil leak that I believe was coming from the oil pump. I have a 89 Toyota PU. Anyway back to my question. I decided to replace my waterpump while I was in it this far. My question is, do I use the gasket provided or glue it with silcone. In my experience on Toyota's I have found that the gaskets break. I was really looking for a second opinion or a re-assurance of my belief.

What do you suggest?

Thanks,
Mike

The 3L V6? The rebuilt waterpumps from the dealer now all use silicone. No gasket. The dealer will also have the tube of black silicone you will need. You also use it on the top water inlet. The one that runs in the middle of the upper timing belt pulley. Since you are in the area, also replace the timing belt and any pulleys that look warn.

Ya actually I was in doing an oil leak and a timing belt I decided to do the waterpump since I was there. I was only curious because it came with a gasket I know they are chronic leaker's. Thanks for the advice.
