So, I'm looking to buy this 86 Toyota Pickup 4x4 Regular Cab SR5, and when I called the dealer, they said that it had a small problem. It will start and run just fine, but after it warms up, then engine shuts off.

Is this a common thing that occurs when X connector is removed or something? That would be awesome if it was, because i can maybe get a truck for cheap, with a cheap fix.

Could be your ignition coil by the distributor.

Not too expensive to fix.

i was thinking it might be a stuck thermostat or something similar, that would cause the engine to overheat and cut out....is there anything like that on these trucks, like a failsafe mode on the ECU?
