Here in Germany, the VW are very popular, and a car that is sought like gold, is the VW Golf diesel motor. Apparently it is the perfect car, high gas-milage ratio and very very low cost, almost never at the mechanichs, and they last forever. And for what they say, great in performance. Of course, it is the "People´s car" as te Volkswagen name states in German, but in the States, I´ve only seen the Bug... at least I can´t remember any other models there. What is your take on this brand?

Here in Canada VW is very popular. It is a precision car, good quality.

The VW Rabbit Diesel was one of the most fuel efficient and reliable cars ever made.

If I was ever looking for another commuter car, VW would be considered.

VW are awesome whether it is the jetta, pasat, rabbit, etc. They seem to run forever and often require no maintanence. Definately worth the high price if you can afford it.

I've never owned one, but I love the look. Sounds like I could've used one back when I commuted 60 miles a day.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/57.gif)

I really like the Passat but over here the Toyota rules and the Volkswagen dealership doesn't even carry the Passat model.

Used to have a VW Polo when I lived south of London, and it was a great little car. Small, fast and great mileage! The only VW I've been disappointed in is the Toureag ...way too expensive for what it is.

VW makes nice driver oriented vehicles that are safe and sporty. But their reliablity has been in the can for a while now.

I know, I know. The models in the UK are much more reliable than the ones here in the US but it often happens like that ...one way or another. Goes to show you that 'where' its made does matter!

You see quite a few Volkswagens around here...especially the older models around the desert and mountains for some reason. There's a split-window bus I see around town every once in a while painted in Denver Broncos colors, complete with little flags on the front.

I like them well enough - but then, when you take into account my first car (blue and white 68 Bug) it's no surprise.

A good book for working on old VWs is called "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive". Great explanations and cute illustrations (that rhymed, didn't it? oh dear...).

Weird to hear so many good things about Vee Dubs. Everything that Ive heard about them states that they are of poor quality. They typically perform even worse than American brands in quality/dependability tests.
They are kinda pricey too.

I had a friend of had two VW rabbits and he loved them and they both had over 200,000 miles on them. They always were running somewhere it seems. Very durable car at lweast the two he had.
