I am a new member because I am possibly buying a used landcruiser. Are they reliable as they get older, and is there weekly care that I may not be aware of? I am looking at a 1981 FJ60 for 2000$, and am not sure if this is the right match for me. This will be my first 4 wheel drive car, however, I drive a Passport (4X4) on a daily basis, so 4 wheel drive is certainly not alien to me. I have heard of the reliability of the landcruiser, and would like to know what I may be getting into. Any info that is provided would be appreciated. If it helps, I am not looking to go off-road, I live in the mountains and hike alot, so some trail heads are tough to get to, and I live on a VERY rural road, and 4 wheel drive is a must if you want to get anywhere. Thank's in advance for the help. Daryl-

I have a 78 FJ40 and am in the process of restoring it - I drove it for a year before I went overseas and it is an awesome machine. alex (friends don't let friends drive jeeps) http://aakh.org/html/beverly.html http://aakh.org (home page)
