I remember that when I was groing up, my father had this huge car. It was a 1959 Ford Fairlane. It was originally green and white, but later he had it painted all green. It looked like a war tank! Well, that was such an old car that when I was a teenager he still had it! And I begged him to pick me up one block away from school, so I would walk and nobody of my friends would see me getting into that car when he picked me up! I wanted my mother to pick me up, because her car at least was from 1969 and was recently painted, so it looked new. He sold the car whan I was 16, in 1978, because a guy from the nearby neighborhood wanted to buy it. Then he bought another Ford Fairlane LTD, but this one was brand new, and that was pure luxury inside... 6 months later he sold it! Then he got the car that was later mine, a 1971 Mercedes 230. He got totally into Mercedes Benz cars, used ones. My father died 20 years ago, and we sold his last car, a 1978 Mercedes Benz station wagon only 8 years ago. My mother kept that car more because of sentimental values, but it was in perfect condition when we sold it. What was the car in your childhood?

The only car that really stands out in my childhood, is my grandmothers little yellow Pacer. She lived in a trailer park with a swimming pool and we'd hop in the trunk and leave the hatch up while we drove to the pool. We had a blast!

Being of pure German decent, I grew up in a 1964 Volkwagon Beetle (light blue).

Man we took that car everywhere. Changed the engine, and kept on running it until I turned 16 in 1981 when we switched to a Mazda.

I miss those volkwagons. Some people have restored them and you can pick one up for about $5,000. I may consider buying one some day.

My uncle had a Beetle! it was white, and by then there was this movie where the Beetle was the car, I can't remember the name of the movie, but the car was named Herbie, and had the number 53 on it... My uncle actually did the number on his car, but with contact paper so it could be taking off, and we went with him to the autocinema, to see the movie, because it was entrance free to all the VW Beetles! It was the promotion that year and they charged tickets only for the car. We were 7 of my cousins with my uncle driving to see the movie! I had totally forgot about that!

We had a VW beetle (red orange, would you believe?) and a Toyota Corolla (colored Smurf blue).

My dad had a 1978 Corolla. Amazingly enough, my first car was an 88 corolla, and now I own a 2007 corolla, which will hopefully be my son's first car.

My mom drove a very cool Thunderbird convertible but it was the one that was a hard top that automatically
folded into the trunk. It was sort of an aqua color and I loved being picked up at school when she drove
it.

My grandfather had an Imperial and it was HUGE. He had one with the infamous push button gear shift
which was so problematic, but he always like getting the hottest new thing. My favorite car he had was a
DeSoto ...another boat but it was great.

We had a 60s mustang, but someone in Chicago liked it more than my mom and stole it. LOL.

I grew up with a Beetle. My mom used to drive me to school in this butter yellow beetle that I used to adore.

I used to love the old Beetles but more than them, the original Carmen Ghias were so cool. Especially the convertibles!

The car I remember the most from my childhood is the Paykan.

Now without looking it up, how many of you can identify that car?

Well, gee, at the risk of showing my youth... My dad had a tan 1986 Toyota 1-ton pickup. I don't remember exactly when we got it, but it traversed the mountains of Europe...crossed the highways and byways of Texas...saw several state parks. Went all over the darn place. I also forgot what exactly did it in, but he sold it after years of loyal service which lasted for the majority of my childhood. Lot of fond memories of watching fireworks, wriggling in and out of the back window, the knee-scratching black plastic bed lining... Man, I miss that truck.

It's funny what you remember from childhood. We had an old Ford truck that I learned to drive in. Three speed column shift and I couldn't even reach the clutch!

My dad drove a school bus when I was in kindergarten and first grade. Guess how I learned to steer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif) It was a rural route, so way out on dirt roads and stuff. When the weather was particularly wet, the teenage boys would always request a fishtail (he only did it once though, that I recall).

'Course, I'm still so short that any car I'm in had better have the seat waaaay forward. Ah well.

My brother loved his Celica and my cousin had a volkeswagon bug. They both loved their cars but my brother played football and one day he and his teammate were on their way to practise and my cousin's car was blocking them in. They PICKED IT UP and moved it aside. At least that's the story. I was 3. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/460.gif)
