I have a 2001 sequoia 4 x4 ltd. On the left hand
side of the dash right beside the power rear window
switch there s a blank switch not used for anything.
Since the model has almost everthing I was wondering I
any one knew what this was for.
Some one on this
site asked our 3 favorite things of the Sequoia/ 1 the
sound of the v 8 when you put your foot in it. 2. the
off road ability. we have this unit in northern
Alberta filming out in the wilds in places it any 4 by 4
should not have been. i t was flawless .
3. The looks
it gets everywhere.
The 3 things I wish it had 1.
memory seats
2. auto dimming mirrors. 3. Adjustable
ride hight and ok 4. 100 lbs more torque. we had it
going on a wide open road at about 100 mph and it
started to become a bit unstable. Simply to much air
going underneath. I would like the extra power for
trailering my horses but then again I like the gas milage I
get now. guess I cant have everything. FYI the new
Lexus SUV comming this summer is 18 iches smaller but
has all my above options(minus the torque) plus a
optional factory installed 16x9 drop down LCD screen .
cheers steve

VDC is Vehicle Directional Control it is a option
that takes over braking and throdle to keep you from
flipping the truck.

Not all Toyota dealers are TRD
certified in fact not many are. You will have to find a TRD
certified dealer then talk to them about it. TRD stands for
Toyota Racing Development

Thanks shortlid.

In canada all Sequoias
are sold as 4x4. 2 wheel drive is simply not
available. The VDC is called VSC/TRAC. I assume this is the
same as the U.S. system. It's a duel Vehicle Skid
control and Traction control system that work together.
One gives an audible warning and the other just
flashes a light to let you know they're working. They are
both defeatable with the switch beside the 4x4 switch
.F.Y.I. If you are in deep snow you must turn the system
of to power three of the four wheels . But if you
have the 4x4 you probably know this. The skid control
works great. We have snow here 6 months of the year and
several times i've found my self going to fast for the
conditions
only to have the system straighten the truck
out.

my Dealers is TRD certified but does not yet have
access to the supercharger. Perhaps for my birthday next
year. cheers Steve

You are right, also engaging 4WD LOW range
defeats VSC. Ya, I did see the super charger kit in the
TRD catalog though might want to call TRD directly
and get a catalog! they have LOTS of hop-up in there!

Shortlid .Thanks . Ididn't know that about 4
wheel low. Tell me what you Think of the super charger
. Do you feel the boost more in H.P . or in torque.
Whats the gas milage with a light foot. And If I could
ask one more? would you do it again. I.E. do you feel
you got value for your $$$.
Cheers steve
