Hello everyone

My have a 06 corolla CE with 20,000 miles and never had any accident or anything. I noticed that the front tires are wearing out so I took it to Just Tyres. They put it for alignment and then the guy told me that these corollas (older than 09) have fixed axle and he cannot align the tires like that because if he adjustes the rear tire the fornt tire will loose the alignmnet again. So he told me that both rear tires needs a "Shim", a kindof plastic disk and that will solve the issue and I can get the right alingnment. Each shim costs about $108 (Parts and Labor).

Now I will talk to the dealership and see if they can align without this or what thay say? My question is, Is this a real problem with all corollas or mine is unique and does anyone else had the same issue? My corolla is still under warranty and does warranty covers that.

What the dealership will say and do for me because dealerships are not so kind in matters which is tricky and costs them.

Thanks for replies and I hope I will enjoy this forum as this is my first time.

Your rear alignment condition is similar to that fully documented on my 2006 Corolla S. The rear alignment right & left toe can not be adjusted & is in fact outside of factory specification as proven by printed alignment report from both independent shop & local Toyota dealer. This situation started 11/26/07 (14,000 miles) when I presented the issue to Toyota dealer & Toy Regional Operations Manager & both were no help.
On 12/26/07, Ehcees filed Complaint with NCDS (National Center For Dispute Settlement). There is a form in your Owner's Manual for filing complaint, but do not do that yet.
-----------------------------------
There are many issues involved. First, do not instal a shim to correct rear toe out of spec. Toyota told me to do that, but when I asked Toyota to sent letter stating that installing rear shim (s) would not be considered a modification under Toy warrentee it never came. Hence, installing shims could void warrentee as not an approved modification. Toy has NO proceedure or TSB (Technical Service Bullitan) to correct rear align toe out of factory spec.

Worse, Toyota refused to honor factory warrentee in order correct rear toe out of spec. & made several dishonest & deflective reasons as to why Toy would not fix at N/C. The Toy dealer does not know how to fix the rear alignment. The car was built that way-DEFECTIVE.------------------------------------Ehcees is a very organized & detailed middle age person. I have all the documents from my discusting experience with Toyota & NCDS complaint. Can tell how to proceed & what to avoid as six (6) months were wasted on rear align issue. Will be happy to confer with you to help & guide providing:
1. We communicate directly to our own E-mail addresses.
2. Your good at following detail & focused.
Please send message to ehcess@yahoo.com
Other persons are asked to please not send E-mail to Ehcees unless you have the exact same rear alignment issue.
Reasons for not wanting to pesue this matter on Forum include:A. Too many offpoint comments being interjected.
B. Don't want a facebook or myplace event.
C. Ok to post my exact text on forum from E-mail if you wish, but Ehcees won't communicate on forum about the align issue.
