Currently, we own 2 minvans and live in the Milwaukee area (to give you . One is about to die and so we are looking at going a completely different route. A car, especially since we still have one minivan which is in very good shape. We are a family of 6 (4 boys ages 8 - 12). I would be the person mainly driving the new car. My wife likes the minivan.

My priorities are SAFETY, fuel efficiency, and a nice drive. Which hybrid would you recommend?

My concerns with the Prius are: no enough "GO" to it and leg room for a driver. One person on a forum said stay away from Prius if you live in states that have Winters. Is this true?

At the same time, the Camry Hybrid is a big drop-off in fuel efficiency (but I hear it has a nicer drive than the Prius). Any and all feedback is welcome.

I am open to any make and model suggestions. Thanks.

The Camry hybrid is a better drive but the Prius gets better gas mpg and the Prius is just fine in the snow along as it has VSC. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If you're going to go with a hybrid, then I would definite say that the Prius is the way to go for fuel efficiency, reliability, and safety. However, consider your overall cost as well. For the most part, the Prius is the best value. However, if you don't mind going smaller and not getting a hybrids, you may want to consider the Yaris. It's a good quality car too and even though the mpg isn't as good, the cost is about 10K cheaper, so you'd be making up for it there. And, of course the mpg is very good, just not as good as the Prius. Hope this helps.
