Baker,
The first time I saw my MR2 I though... sure it's got nice lines but that car is way too small. However after a short, for the hell of it, test drive I was hooked too. It is the perfect car to 'throw around'. Driving this car is it's real joy.
And man I know what you mean when you talk about that whistling sound. I put a K&N air filter in my '86 and the sound got even more delightful. I have also rigged up a scoop that gets cool air from under the car. There was some silly box like thing under the air cleaner that had a round connector to the air intake. I ripped out this box and ran a big tube from the bottom of the car to the air cleaner intake. Along with a bigger exhaust the whole thing is amazing. I swear I added 10 hp. I probably didn't get that much but you can feel the difference. When a car is engineered as good as the MR2, it seems like very little work is needed to make it faster. Oh yeah and it's light as a feather too...I bet that helps.
As for winter driving woah! Doesn't it seem like when the car fish tails it has this 'point of no return' that's much much different (and sooner) from a rear wheel front engine car? I drove mine a little 2 winters ago and have been storing it since then.

Question: Does the K&N filter really make as big a difference as that? My next door neighbour used to have one, and he bought one for his and said it made an amasing difference aswell! The only problem is that I'm a bit concerned as to how easy it is to install. Im not exactly "mechanic of the year" if you know what I mean, and I'd only wanna buy one if it's a piece of cake to install. Any tips?
