I went to my local dealer and found the same
story. I knew more about the XRS than the woman trying
to sell it to me. (After test-driving the XR, they
didn't need to do much selling.) They took my deposit
and I was told they would "preference" the vehicle
and it would probably be 8 to 12 weeks before I got
it!

I found that hard to believe but put the
deposit down anyway. Then I called every other dealer in
Cincinnati and told them what I wanted. I also got on the
Internet and searched the inventories of every dealer
within a four hour drive - Cleveland, Maumee,
Louisville...and called their toll-free numbers. From what I saw,
the XRS *is* hard to find, especially with auto
transmission. But I would definitely keep on your dealer to
find you the car. One thing I noticed about all the
dealers I contacted - they will assume you've gotten the
car from another source if you don't keep calling
them.

In the end one of the local dealers, Joseph Toyota
of Cincinnati, got the car for me, an Indigo Ink
Blue XRS with automatic transmission. The Indigo was
my third choice, but now that I've actually seen it
close up, it looks great. They did a dealer trade with
a dealer in Knoxville, TN.

It took two weeks
but it was well worth the wait!
