The reason that passenger airbags can often be disabled in pickups is that they don't have rear seats. There is no alternative to placing a child in the front seat. I've never seen an airbag that could be disabled in a sedan. As I understand it, airbags are actively dangerous for children in some child seats, and DEADLY for children in rear facing seats. They are also dangerous for people who, due to their size and small arms, have to drive with their chests very close to the steering wheel, as the bag hits them with great force. Where I live, you have the airbag deactivated if it poses a safety hazard, BUT, no mechanic I know will do the job, EVEN THOUGH IT IS LEGAL if you have the right paperwork. Les
