Peter, I see that Xpel has headlight, bumper, and hood/mirror kits. It looks like you did not get the headlight covers from your post, but did you get the bumper? I'd think that would not be so important.

Anyone else have any Xpel experience?

Burns
Now that 'Lux is nearly here, I have the think about details!

Burns: As I mentioned in my message #8357, I had the Xpel protective film installed on my "... Prius' hood, headlights, [front] bumper and side mirrors ...".

I got the film for the bumper, too, based on my past experience with my previous vehicle (before Prius) which was a '93 Mazda Miata. These cars have plastic bumpers, "similar" to the Prius. My unprotected (no Xpel film) Miata bumpers were chipped and pitted after several years of driving. Of course, the Prius bumpers may have a different color/plastic composition, and so may be more durable than the 10-year-old bumper technology used on my Miata. I don't know.

Another reason to get the Xpel film: Squished, baked-on bugs seem to wash off much more easily from the Xpel film than from the Prius' naked paint and bumper. However, I haven't tested this against Prius paint with a good wax applied to it -- yet. I plan on waxing my Prius soon, before I leave on my cross-country trip. BTW, you can wax the Xpel film, too.

Let me know if you have any other Xpel-related (or other) questions. Cheers!

- Peter

Peter,

Are you happy with the "lines" that show on the product? Can you tell they are there at a moderate glance?

Alan

Alan: Again, as mentioned in my message #8357: "... The great thing about the Xpel film is that it "works", but is pretty much invisible. For example, if you look closely at the Eastern Sierra pictures I just posted [in my "02" album here] you'll notice that you can't see the Xpel film on the front area of the Prius' hood, headlights, bumper and side mirrors. ..."

So, yes, I'm happy with the Xpel film on my car. Of course, if possible you should check it out on another vehicle before you make a final decision ... your local Xpel installer will hopefully have it installed on their own personal vehicle so you can see for yourself. ;-)

- Peter
