I currently own a Hiace YH71 (super long wheelbase) which makes it a pain to park pretty much anywhere.
Just had a bearing in the gearbox fall apart. I have two choices ahead of me, maybe 3.
1: kit it out - keeping in mind I have minimal experience inside a gearbox. 2: replace it for new or s/h. (limited funding) 3: replace the engine and gearbox with ones from a corolla.
my question is: how likely is it that I will have to make (find someone with an engineering certificate) engine brackets or is this a compatible changeover?
I understand that the gearbox is (might be) compatible (using a 3Y engine), however I am unaware of the typical engine used in corollas, and have had little success find any reference to it on the net so far.
